Team Edit: Dumpster Diver 2

Watch some of CI's leading Team Riders in a purely surf action "TEAM EDIT" for the Dumpster Diver 2.

The idea for this board came when Dane was riding his original Dumpster Diver while filming "Out of the Rafters" edit for Chapter 11 last year. He was was tripping out how how tiny and short the Dumpster Diver felt and wanted to build a longer - modernized version that still tapped into the magic of the original.

The DD2 has a wider nose and tail, more nose and tail rocker, and a more subtle single concave. These updates, among other tweaks, allow the board to excel in a wider range of conditions and letting your rip as hard as you think you do.

Dane also made a special set of fins for the board, that will work well in other designs if you like that slightly 2+1 feel.

Britt and CI Team Tour Japan

Over the past several decades, Channel Islands Surfboards and the Merrick family have held close ties with Japan and its passionate surf community. In short, we love Japan! The people, the food, the vibes are all so great. With the debut of our new CI Pro shortboard model, we wanted to share our stoke for this board with Japan via a little CI Pro movie screening tour. We rallied Britt and some of the CI crew in California (Parker, Tanner, and Devon) to head over with him, where they linked up with CI Japan team riders like Mar, Kaito and Hide along the way.

This video by Alex Kilauano captures the many flavorful moments from the adventure, including a dream session at the Surf Stadium wave pool with special guest Tom Carroll.

DNA: The Colapinto Brothers

Siblings are said to share about 50% of the same DNA. The 50% that Griffin and Crosby Colapinto have in common appears to contain detailed information about how to ride a wave — or perhaps that came from growing up at Lowers.

Either way, it’s working.

23-year-old Griffin won his maiden CT event earlier this year, then backed it up with another, and, at the moment, is ranked 3rd in the world. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Crosby has spent the last few years progressing at an absurdist rate, and people noticed — including Stab. He was invited to Stab High in 2020 and won the Pipe Masters portion of last year’s Digital Triple Crown. Crosby is already capable of the type of surfing that wins CT heats, and he’s poised to make a CS run and join his brother in the big leagues.

Vans Stab High Non-Chlorine Presented by Monster Energy - Episode 3

Over the course of a 10-day boat trip through the Mentawai Islands—surfing’s original wavepark—Vans Stab High, Non-Chlorine, presented by Monster Energy seeks to shatter all previous aerial benchmarks. Bigger, faster, higher, and more technical is what we're after.

Devoted to above-the-lip surfing, judges Nathan Fletcher and Mikey February signed on to score every air of the trip. Basing their scores on amplitude, style, and progression, from launch to landing, every aspect of the maneuver will be scrutinized on a scale of 1 to 10.

Each surfer’s highest-scoring right and left air will count toward their total score. Whoever finishes the trip with the highest two-wave total will become the Stab High winner and $12,000 richer.

On top of this, every surfer will also have an opportunity to win Vans Stab High’s Monster Air Award presented by Monster Energy. The prize goes to the highest, most generally outrageous air of the trip.

There’s another $3,000 up for grabs in the Vans Ladybirds division, which features four of the most talented and air-minded (but not air-headed) young women in surfing.

World-class talent from around the world has got onboard for Vans Stab High, Non-Chlorine, presented by Monster Energy. In the men’s division, the list of competitors includes:
