After two events in paradise, the Championship Tour turns up the heat with a cold water clash in Portugal. Famed for its heavy barrels and iconic European backdrop, the world’s best surfers will suit up and throw down in Peniche with just two events remaining before the Mid-season Cut.

Fifteen years after one of the best events in WSL history, the Championship Tour makes its much-anticipated return to Barra De La Cruz and one of the most perfect right point breaks in the world. While the last event here was a novelty Search event, this year’s contest brings real gravity and stakes. As the second-to-last stop on the schedule, all eyes are on the WSL Final 5. Some surfers have already clinched their ticket to the World Title-deciding event at Trestles, so there are only a few precious spots left. Who will seize them?

This coming weekend, Olympic Surfing becomes a thing. Can anyone stop Gabriel or Carissa from winning Gold? Will it all makes sense? Will Roy and HG call it? (hope so). Anyway, it turns out I have footage of nearly all Olympic Surfers, so I put them all together for a preview.

3 Days to Finalize Olympic Qualification and Crown World Champions

Day 5 of competition narrowed down the field of Olympic hopefuls and Gold Medal contenders at the 2021 Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games.

Through five days of competition the world’s top National Surfing Teams have been vying for the final 12 spots for Tokyo 2020 – 5 for men and 7 for women.

Many surfers remaining are looking to become the first of their country to earn an Olympic spot. These include surfers from Indonesia, Panama, Germany, Spain, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Canada, Great Britain and Argentina.

Meanwhile, other countries are looking to bolster their Olympic squads and reach the maximum of 2 men and 2 women. This includes countries still with athlete spots to fill such as France, Japan, Costa Rica, Israel, Peru, New Zealand, Portugal, and South Africa.

Redemption: Frederico Morais gets back on track with Olympic qualification

Frederico Morais has loved surfing since a young age in his country of Portugal.

He proved to be a promising talent and quickly rose to the top of Surfing's ranks by qualifying for the WSL Championship Tour. However, injury and a rough season got his career off track.

In 2019, Morais redeemed himself and surfed his best when it mattered at the ISA World Surfing Games, earning a provisional qualification slot for Surfing's debut in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

O Bom Petisco Cascais Pro oncluiu o ciclo de etapas da #LigaMEOSurf 2020.
A prova arrancou na praia do Guincho com uma sequência de heats intensa na competição masculina. O líder do ranking Afonso Antunes acabou por deixar o caminho aberto para Frederico Morais e Vasco Ribeiro. O segundo dia segui com as provas femininas em que Teresa Bonvalot e Carolina Mendes se destacaram mais.
Frederico Morais acabou por vencer Vasco Ribeiro nas meias-finais, conquistar a etapa e sagrar-se campeão pela terceira vez.
Teresa Bonvalot, já tinha o título garantio mas deu o seu melhor e valeu-lhe a também a conquista da última etapa da Liga.

Bom Petisco Cascais Pro was included in MEO Surf League series #LigaMEOSurf 2020.
The race started on Guincho beach with an intense heats sequence in the men's competition. The leader of the ranking Afonso Antunes ended up leaving the path open for Frederico Morais and Vasco Ribeiro. The second day I continued with the women's events in which Teresa Bonvalot and Carolina Mendes stood out more.
Frederico Morais ended up beating Vasco Ribeiro in the semi-finals, winning the stage and becoming champion for the third time.
Teresa Bonvalot, already had the title guarantee but gave her best and also earned her the last leg of the League.

Dia de todas as decisões na Liga MEO Surf! Frederico Morais acabou por vencer Vasco Ribeiro nas meias-finais e conquistar a etapa, sagrando-se campeão pela terceira vez. Teresa Bonvalot, apesar de já ter o título garantido, deu o seu melhor e valeu-lhe a conquista da 5ª etapa da Liga.

Day of all decisions in the MEO Surf League! Frederico Morais ended up winning over Vasco Ribeiro in the semi-finals and winning the contest, becoming the champion for the third time. Teresa Bonvalot, despite having already secured the title, did her best and earned victory in the final event of the series.
