Japanese Super Session

Surfest was called off for the day and four of Japan's best surfers - Hiroto Ohhara, Yuji Nishi, Hiroto Arai and Keijiro Nishi headed up to a bank at Bar Beach.

"Surfing is my life!" - Hiroto Ohhara lives his dream! 💭🇯🇵

Hiroto Ohhara is one of the greatest Japanese surfing talents ever. He finished 5th at the Tokyo Olympics and is not far from the podium. He says: "Surfing is everything, it's my life. It's something that I've always enjoyed, going into ocean is my habit now. Being in the water, feeling the waves makes me feel alive."
Surfing is not just a sport for him, it's a passion. Have fun watching!

This coming weekend, Olympic Surfing becomes a thing. Can anyone stop Gabriel or Carissa from winning Gold? Will it all makes sense? Will Roy and HG call it? (hope so). Anyway, it turns out I have footage of nearly all Olympic Surfers, so I put them all together for a preview.

Gold for France, Duru, Fitzgibbons at Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games

Team France was crowned the Team Gold Medalist of the 2021 Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games on Sunday at the break of La Bocana.

Lead by an individual Gold Medal from Joan Duru and a Bronze Medal from Jeremy Flores, Team France surpassed the Silver Medal Team Japan in the final heat of the day to emerge victorious among the 51-nation field. It is France’s first Gold since they won and hosted the 2017 edition in Biarritz, France.

Australia’s Sally Fitzgibbons made history by becoming the first athlete to ever earn individual Gold three times in the World Surfing Games. Fitzgibbons first accomplished the feat in 2008 before earning her second Gold in 2018. 2021 marks her third Gold, which puts her in a category of her own and gives her a boost of momentum ahead of her Olympic debut.

39 of 40 Olympic Surfers Confirmed for Tokyo 2020 in Surf City El Salvador

The penultimate day of action at the 2021 Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games featured a flurry of Olympic qualification at the break of La Bocana.

39 of the 40 Olympic surfers have officially been confirmed for Surfing’s Olympic debut next month at Tokyo 2020. The 40 qualified surfers will hail from 17 different countries, a display of the universality of the sport that has been a central part of the ISA’s mission to make a better world through Surfing.

The 2021 ISA World Surfing Games awards slots to the highest ranking eligible 5 men and 7 women – 11 of which were decided on Saturday.

The 7 women’s slots were claimed by Portugal’s Teresa Bonvalot and Yolanda Sequeira, Costa Rica’s Leilani McGonagle, Peru’s Daniella Rosas, Japan’s Mahina Maeda and Amuro Tsuzuki, and France’s Pauline Ado.

4 of the 5 men’s slots were earned by Germany’s Leon Glatzer, Peru’s Lucca Mesinas and Miguel Tudela, and Chile’s Manuel Selman.

The one men’s slot left up for grabs will be decided by two surfers: Japan’s Hiroto Ohhara and Shun Murakami. Both have advanced far enough to make it to finals day – Murakami in the Main Event and Ohhara in the Repechage.

Road to Tokyo Heats Up with Surfing Olympic Qualification on the Line

After three days of competition at the 2021 Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games the chase for Gold Medals and Olympic qualification is heating up among the 51 competing nations.

Day 3 saw a fresh, strong swell grace the coast of El Salvador to greet the Main Event heats and first elimination Repechage heats of the event thus far.
