Winning Runs: Sakura Yosozumi Wins Women's Park Finals | Dew Tour Des Moines 2021

After watching her Japanese teammate Misugu Okamoto dominate with a backside 540 in every contest in 2019, and again in this week’s Semifinal, Sakura Yosozumi decided it was time to break out a 540 of her own that she’d been working on in secret and had never landed in competition before today. Landing it in Run 4 helped boost her to the top of the podium.

“I’ve been working on it for a full year,” Yosozumi said. “I realized anyone who wants to earn a medal in Tokyo should learn a 540.”

Top Three Women's Park Skateboarding Semifinal Runs | Dew Tour Des Moines 2021

Misugu Okamoto, just 15 years old and already the top-ranked Women’s Park skater in the world prior to this week, stayed true to form on Friday, winning the Women’s Park Semifinal to advance to Sunday’s 8-woman Final.

Also making the top-8 cut for the Final: Sky Brown (representing Great Britain), Bryce Wettstein (USA), Sakura Yosozumi (Japan), Mami Tezuka (Japan), Kokona Hiraki (Japan), Kisa Nakamura (Japan), and Jordyn Barratt (USA).

2021 Billabong Bloodlines Camps Highlight Reel

We have seen the future...and now you can, too.

For years, our Billabong Bloodlines youth development program has groomed the next wave of surfing talent around the world – in and out of the water – guided by our elite coaching staff and legends of the sport. Typically the program includes annual Bloodlines camps at the Billabong House on Oahu’s North Shore, but with the pandemic and travel restrictions still firmly in place, this year those camps were forced to be like most gatherings over the past 12 months: via the Internet. The challenge: film a 60-second shred clip during the month of April.

Ever wonder what life could have been like as sponsored skateboarder, surfer, and an Olympic hopeful all before the age of 15? We get a glimpse of all that and more with 12-year old phenom Sky Brown as she brings us along on a schedule-packed day. Sky and her brother, Ocean, kick things off in Oceanside, California, with a surf session, followed by a homemade breakfast. Then it’s on to knocking out a training exercise and online schoolwork. They finish the day with more skateboarding and even a surprise appearance by legendary skater Christian Hosoi.
