NORTH AMERICA REGIONAL QS CHAMPS, CHALLENGER SERIES QUALIFIERS ANNOUNCED

The World Surf League (WSL) North America Regional Qualifying Series (QS) 2020/21 season came to a conclusion on Sunday, August 8, at the men's and women's Jack's Surfboards Pro QS 1,000, finalizing the Regional Champions and Challenger Series (CS) qualifiers. Surfers were allocated points from previous international events toward regional rankings after the suspension of the North America season in March due to COVID-19. This propelled Nat Young (USA) and Brisa Hennessy (CRI) to the top of North America's ranks.

NAT YOUNG AND CAITLIN SIMMERS VICTORIOUS AT JACK'S SURFBOARDS PRO

It's been 16 months in the making for the North America Regional Qualifying Series (QS) to crown event victors, and that long-awaited day came to fruition.

Former Championship Tour (CT) elite Nat Young and young trailblazer Caitlin Simmers emerged victorious at the Jack's Surfboards Pro QS 1,000, respectively.

Young, 30, and Simmers, 15, put on a showcase from start to finish on finals day in three-to-four foot, inconsistent swell from their respective Quarterfinals through to Final showdowns.

"Session Of My Life On Kelly Slater's Surfboard" | Josh And Jacob Burke On Barbados' Decade Swell

After breaking his own board, Jacob Burke was forced Kelly Slater's 5'8 (which had been left in Barbados on Kelly's 2012 visit) in pumping surf. He ended up catching the wave of his life.

Sadly, that wave was not captured on film (but you can read all about it here following the link below).

The rest of this film captures Barbados' two-week run of swell from hurricanes Paulette and Teddy, as surfed by Jaco Burke and his brother Josh.
