Surfing celebrated its premiere at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The competitions took place in the legendary surfing location Teahupoʻo on Tahiti. World-class surfers battled for gold in the huge waves. The event was a great success and underlined the growing importance of surfing as a global sport.

The implications rose to meet the CT’s grand return to Fiji with the Final 5 race growing narrower at every sounding of the horn and the world’s best rose to the occasion. Classic, Gabriel Medina magic, World No. 1’s clinching their place atop the ranks, more Lexus WSL Finals spots clinched, and plenty of high-performance action to enjoy highlighted a momentous day at the pristine lineup of Cloudbreak.

After a seven-year hiatus, Cloudbreak is back on the Championship Tour schedule as the ninth and final stop of the regular season. The 2024 Corona Fiji Pro presented by Bonsoy will see the top 24 men and 12 women return to one of the world's most perfect and iconic waves. This powerful, left-hand reef break will not only cap the regular season but will officially set the WSL Final 5 roster.

Fiji has been home to some of the most memorable moments at the Championship Tour level, including a record four wins by 11x World Champion Kelly Slater who returns to the event this year as a wildcard. Fiji will also welcome back tour veterans such as Gabriel Medina, John John Florence, Tyler Wright, and Tatiana Weston-Webb as well as others who will be competing there for the first time including current world No. 1 Caitlin Simmers and Griffin Colapinto.

As the world’s best surfers drop into Cloudbreak next week for the Corona Fiji Pro, the penultimate event of the 2024 WSL world tour, Olympic medallist Gabriel Medina must make every heat count if he is to make the “Final 5” and contend for the world title at The Lexus WSL Finals to be held at Trestles in Southern California from September 6 to 14, 2024.
