Vans Europe Presents: Where the Lands Meets the Sea | Skate | VANS.

A selection of the UK Vans skate team endeavored across the British Isle’s between free to move periods of ‘Covid lock downs’. Despite restrictions and the temperamental British weather, they managed to skate spots previously unseen and untouched.

Conditions were less than glamorous, the spots were extremely crusty, sleeping on uneven hillsides, setting up camp on rainy nights, trench foot, greasy English breakfasts and miles upon miles (2124 miles to be exact) in a smelly van is what was endured.

Despite all of the obstacles that inherently come with a trip like this, the crew managed to hit some of the most rural and out of reach locations along the charming coast of the UK. Allowing them to think outside of the box with some unconventional terrain, and reconnect with nature after a year and a half of lockdowns!

Thank You Skateboard GB Team!

The time is upon us; the Tokyo 2020 Olympics starts today, and this will be the first time skateboarding is included in the games.

We want to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to the Skateboard GB team and all of the skateboarders who represented Great Britain over the last three years.

It takes great courage, dedication and effort to compete at an international level, and for that, we can’t thank you enough.

Skateboarders qualify for the Olympic Games by competing at World Skate qualification events. The top twenty ranked skateboarders (in each discipline) book themselves a place in Tokyo.

Each country is allowed 3 athletes per gender, per event. For example, USA may have 7 skaters in the top 20, but only the first 3 would qualify. We then display this as a 'Clean List' rank.

Both Sky Brown qualified in 3rd position and Bombette Martin in 19th (on a clean list) and will compete for @TeamGB in Tokyo.

Alex Hallford placed in 35th / 23rd clean
Alex Decunha placed in 34th / 23rd clean
Jordan Thackeray placed in 80th / 62nd clean
Sam Beckett placed in 83rd / 64th clean

Thank you again. You did Skateboard GB proud!

Europe's Oldest Skateboarding Contest | MYSTIC SK8 CUP 2019

25 years is a long time for a skate contest to run. The Mystic Cup started life as an extension of the European professional contest circuit, which was the basis of many a 'Summer In Europe' issue of 411 Video Magazine and a vital part of that era's skate culture as a result. In 2019 it continues to be a fun contest full of heavy skating. Watch Lucy Adams catch up with the contest organizers on the history on Mystic Sk8 Cup and cover the 2019 Mens & Womens events.
