About:

Media info: We’ve spent decades skateboarding, writing for skate magazines, shooting photos, and producing videos around the world. We’ve also put in a ton of time at shops, both hanging out and working, or some ambiguous combination thereof. So in addition to bringing you the latest skate news, we aim to put it into the context that comes from a lifetime of aimless exchanges about our sport. Or, if you prefer, “sport.”

But if you don’t know why there’s no such thing as a nollie half Cab, the RIDE Channel is still for you. We can explain precisely that concept in painstaking detail, and we can tell you how your kickflips could be way better. And thanks to the magic of streaming video, we can show you, too.

Red Bull Cornerstone 2021 – Full Series Recap RED BULL CORNERSTONE SKATE SERIES WRAPS ITS BIGGEST YEAR YET Qualifying Events in Seven States Culminated in an Epic Final in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Crowned the best Amateur skaters in the Midwest Across all seven stops there were 382 skaters, men and women from throughout the region were represented, as well as skaters from across the country (some skaters travelled in from as far away as Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and San Antonio). We saw heavy skating at each stop, truly showcasing the top amateur talent from the Midwest and beyond. The contests also drew large crowds at each park, and the energy from spectators and competitors alike was palpable. In addition to securing cash prizes at the qualifying events, the top six finishers (six men and six women) at each qualifier were invited to the Red Bull Cornerstone Final, held this year at The Bay in Lincoln, Nebraska. Not every skater who qualified was able to travel to the Final, but we had a healthy roster of 21 men and 11 women skating in the series final. The format of the Final gave each skater three one-minute solo runs, and they were judged and assigned points based on their best run. The skaters in the Final put their whole hearts into their three runs, and they really put on a show. The walls of The Bay echoed with the roar from the onlookers as the men and women landed big and technical tricks. The overall contest winners for the 2021 Red Bull Cornerstone Contest are: Men First Place – Jonathon Reese (Minneapolis, MN) Second Place – Gabriel Vigliotti (Youngstown, OH) Third Place – Felix Meyers (Milwaukee, WI) Women First Place – Lillian Gallagher (Minneapolis, MN) Second Place – Taylor Silverman (Kalamazoo, MI) Third Place – Alex Herring (Chicago, IL) The third-place winners took home $750. Second place earned $1500. And the two first-place winners each won $3000 cash. The skaters at the Series Finals also had a chance to compete in Best Trick competitions on three separate park features at The Bay. The three best trick winners are: Dustin Blauvelt (Detroit, MI) landed a nollie heel back lip, switch 270 front blunt and switch heel board slide down a rail. Lilian Gallagher (Minneapolis, MN) landed a nollie back bigspin off the loading dock. Felix Meyers (Milwaukee, WI) landed a front smith Ollie late shuv it on a bank to ledge transition. The three winners each won $1,000 cash, and a three-thousand-dollar grant for a Red Bull Cornerstone Skate Feature at the local skate park they qualified from. Red Bull Cornerstone continues to unite the skaters and skate communities of the Midwest, showing love and support for the local parks and local scenes. Red Bull Cornerstone 2021 – Stops Three and Four – Detroit and Milwaukee It was another incredible stop as the Red Bull Cornerstone series swept through Cream City skatepark in Milwaukee and hosted the best upcoming talent in the midwest. From wall-to-wall, every obstacle in this epic park was attacked and approached in different ways, making it yet another tough contest for the judges to score. All the different offerings on the grounds of Cream City make it a great park for a contest like this and difficult tricks were going down with ease every heat. There’s something special about local contests like these. The atmosphere is unmatched, hard to describe, but amazing to be a part of nonetheless. Every person in attendance felt the energy. Major shutout to Felix Meyers for placing 1st in the Men’s division. Felix is full of style and talent and we expect great things from him! Following closely behind him was Jonathan Reese in 2nd and Logan Mozey in 3rd—both who respectfully held their own on the course heat after heat! In the Women’s division, we saw Lilian Gallagher step on the tallest point of the podium coming in 1st, with Alex Herring biting at her ankles in 2nd and Leon Colthier at a close 3rd. These girls were on fire and brought some great perspective to the park! This year’s local qualifier events will be held in Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin. With a few stops wrapped up, we can’t wait to see what unfolds next. The top skaters at each event will advance to the Red Bull Cornerstone Final. Follow the action on social media and visit redbull.com/cornerstonefor details on locations, registration, times and more!
