2020 Open LPA Surf City | Day One Highlights

The first day of competition at the 2020 Open LPA Surf City kicked off with fantastic conditions at La Cicer, in Las Palmas, Canary Islands.

The last event of the Spanish national surfing championships got underway at Playa de las Canteras.

The remaining title contenders - Néstor García, Vicente Romero, Luis Díaz and Bitor Garitaonandia - have secured a spot in the quarterfinals.

Spanish Team surf the Wavegarden Cove

With so many world-class waves in Spain, it was no surprise to witness an explosive surf session by the national Spanish team. One of the countries top surfers, Vicente Romero, elated by the experience of surfing the Cove for the first time, remarked it was one of the best sessions of his career - perfect for practising different manoeuvres, aerials to tubes.
