This Is Exposure Skate: Compassion Through Service and the Growth of Women’s Skateboarding Dedicated to empowering women, girls and nonbinary individuals through skateboarding, Exposure Skate is building a true community, and the 2025 event brought people from around the world to continue the mission in full effect. “At its core, Exposure has always been about the love of skateboarding,” says Exposure Skate president and founder, pro skateboarder and Olympian Amelia Brodka. Starting with just 34 skaters at the first event in 2012, see how Exposure Skate has grown in its 14th edition to host 200 girls from 21 countries. Learn the origin story and hear about the Exposure Skate journey from Amelia, the person who truly breathed life into the community. Professional skaters Nora Vasconcellos, Lizzie Armanto, Vanessa Torres and Steve Caballero each join the conversation, sharing how the Exposure Skate scene has made a positive impact on their lives and their communities at large. You’ll also meet Jess Robledo, the program director and Amelia’s general partner in all things nonprofit and community. Lisa Whitaker & Meow Skateboards | This Is GOOD WORK In 2012, Lisa Whitaker created Meow Skateboards to fill a void in the skate industry — she and her crew saw little-to-no support for women's skateboarding. Now, 10 years later here in 2022, Lisa and Meow have a team of more than a dozen top talents in skateboarding reppin' the boards and the brand's mission every time they put wheels to concrete. That's only the scratching the surface of Lisa's skateboarding story, one that goes back 25+ years now and includes life as a sponsored skater, early contest circuits both in front and behind the camera, decades of filming skating, and the founding of the Girls Skate Network website in 2003. (That's pre-YouTube!) With top pros like Vanessa Torres, Mariah Duran and Kristin Ebeling on the roster, Lisa and the Meow Skateboards team practice what they preach and continue to stack clips and change the face of skateboarding from the inside out, day in and day out.
