Portuguese Perfection w/ Leo, Kanoa, Morgan and Italo | WSL Championship Tour The world’s best surfers scored pumping waves in the depths of the Portuguese winter while in Peniche for the MEO Pro Portugal, and our man Scotty Hammonds was there to film the best of it. Supertubes lived up to its name in the pre-game, serving up icy Atlantic cylinders for our squad of CT rippers, everyone from Italo Ferreira and Jordy Smith, to Leo Fioravanti, Kanoa Igarashi and Morgan Cibilic. It wasn’t just the Red Bull crew getting stuck into the pits and wedges on offer, with heavy hitters like John John Florence and Jack Robinson joining Aussie underdogs Ethan Ewing and Ryan Callinan in putting on a hard hitting display. Queen Carissa Moore and Malia Manuel fly the flag for Hawaii, while the Californian connection of Kolohe Andino and eventual contest winner Griffin Colapinto proves once again why they’re deadly when the surf is firing. Day 4 Highlights Billabong Pro Pipeline | World Champs And Wildcards Make More History At Pipe From Moana Jones Wong to Carissa Moore and Tyler Wright, moving day at the Billabong Pro Pipe enjoyed all kinds of barrel-riding action. As the epicenter of the surf universe and the birthplace of the sport, it’s only right for Pipeline to kick off the Championship Tour. Everyone enters the season with optimism and equal hopes of winning it all. The rookie class is thrown into the fire, the contenders return with one thing on their minds, the women gear up to make history in their first full event at Pipe, and the surf world begins to follow the road to the Rip Curl WSL Finals with wide-eyed curiosity.
