Billabong Starts Making Wetsuits From 100% Recycled Materials Billabong announced that 100 percent of its wetsuits are now made from recyclable materials. The wetsuit company is developing the Recycler series featuring graphene, a single, thin layer of graphite. In other words, Billabong is using the soft, flaky material used in pencil lead. The brand is taking recycled PET trash, which then gets transformed into pellets, then spun into yarn, and then woven into fabric. Approximately 40 recycled bottles now go into each wetsuit, saving millions of plastic bottles from landfills. The warmth and performance of Nobel Prize-winning graphene will later be infused with these recycled fibers. The yarn woven into fabric for Billabong's high-stretch jerseys and liners allows for sustainability without compromise. Griffin Colapinto, Tyler Warren, Becca Speak and Eithan Osborne put the new Recycler wetsuits to test in the coldest possible waters.
