One of the most anticipated weeks on any self-respecting snowboarder’s calendar is upon us, as once again a heavy collection of the world’s best riders have descended upon Switzerland for the legendary Laax Open, where the 2020/21 FIS Snowboard slopestyle and halfpipe World Cup seasons will finally get underway.

For the Parkrats of Schladming Christmas Eve 2020 was a very special one as there was an exciting present hidden under the Christmas Tree. The Superpark Planai & the Funslope opened their doors on the 24th of December, just in time for some Christmas and NYE holiday shreds. Freeskiers and Snowboarders could make the best out of 2020 and enjoy the last two weeks of this very interesting year lapping the Park. 2021 is packed with hope and the crew around the Superpark Planai want to welcome you with a very creative and fun Park-setup!

The LAAX OPEN 2021 takes place from 19-23 January 2021, kicking off the FIS Snowboard World Cup Tour 2020/2021 in the disciplines Slopestyle and Halfpipe and is endowed with 140,000 CHF prize money. Top-notch, action-pumped sport and lots of excitement are guaranteed at the contests taking place around the Crap Sogn Gion in the women's and men's competitions. This year, audiences can only follow Europe's most renowned snowboard contest in the media.

The season start of the 8th Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY hosted by Blue Tomato and Ride Snowboards will be postponed to the end of February 2021. Under the aegis of the Ästhetiker crew, the VÄLLEY RÄLLEY unites four events for up-and-coming snowboard talents under the roof of the Zillertal. All four tour stops will go down in different Zillertal snowparks, always with one day of coaching and a slopestyle competition day. The new kick-off date is now the 27th and 28th of February, 2021 at the Penken Park in Mayrhofen-Hippach Zillertal.

The 2020/21 FIS Snowboard Park & Pipe World Cup finally got underway on Saturday and did so in a huge way, with a remarkable big air competition going down under near-perfect conditions in Kreischberg (AUT), where Zoi Sadowski-Synott (NZL) and Max Parrot (CAN) walked away the winners from a heavy-hitting competition.

The tune-in schedule for the 20th consecutive X Games Aspen at Buttermilk Mountain is now available at XGames.com. After most major sporting events were put on hold following X Games Norway 2020, athletes will return to the world’s premier action sports competition from January 29-31, televised with live coverage on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC and X Games digital channels. The world’s best will battle it out for a podium spot in Ski and Snowboard competitions.

2020 is coming to an end. And even though no one will miss this year, the end of it brings something amazing: snow! The mountains of Mayrhofen in the Zillertal have been covered in white gold over and over again in the last few weeks and left us dreaming of an early start of the season in the Penken Park.

There’s a XL snowpark right in the wintersport heart of Austria that’s called Kitzbühel. And who thought that Kitzbühel is only about alpine skiing is proven wrong. After all, five areas filled with kickers, jibs and multi features will still everyone’s hunger for freestyle. On top, two well-known events will be the cherry on this seasons cake.

Even though Covid-19 makes things more difficult and uncertain regarding the coming winter season, one thing should give hope to all shredqueens who can’t wait for the season to start: The Girls Shred Sessions will be back – with smaller groups, an exclusive coaching atmosphere and good vibes only.

The Natural Selection Tour, the first winter sports tour to showcase the world’s top riders, from Olympians to big mountain film icons, competing on the planet’s most exciting natural and naturally-enhanced terrain; debuts live exclusively on Red Bull TV from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort this February 3-9. The Tour’s inaugural season will also include stops at Baldface Lodge, British Columbia and Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, Alaska. The top finishers will go head-to-head in Alaska, where the best men’s and women’s all-mountain freestyle riders will be crowned in late March.

Since years, this park has been one of the highlights in the Bernese Alps, not only because of the impressive mountain-giants surrounding it: Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The SKYLINE SNOWPARK will once again be the cherry on top of this breathtaking scenery and is prepared with a massive setup and many new obstacles to surprise.

With a new tour schedule the Zillertal VÄLLEY RÄLLEY hosted by Blue Tomato and Ride Snowboards will be starting in January 2021 into the 8th round at Zillertal Arena. As every year, the popular snowboard tour attracts many international snowboarders to travel to Zillertal. Under the aegis of the Ästhetiker crew, four tourstops will be on the schedule for 2020/2021. The events will go down in four different Zillertal snowparks, always with one day of coaching and training and a slopestyle competition day.

On 19 January 2021, the freestyle snowboarding professionals will kick off the World Cup circuit in the Slopestyle and Halfpipe disciplines with the LAAX OPEN. It’s the first international contest of the season in a pre-Olympic winter and it’s all about quota spots, snowboarding at the highest level and prestigious titles. In addition, the LAAX OPEN is considered a favourite contest for many riders.

While we enter an extended wait for the next FIS World Cup competitions of the Park & Pipe and Freeski seasons, it's encouraging to see some FIS-level competitions taking place - or on track to take place - at sites around Europe as the winter picks up momentum.
