Limited Edition Art Series; Haydenshapes / Wasted Talent “Untitled V2” feat. Dion Agius No one likes a cold, drawn-out Winter with no waves, especially not in the middle of a pandemic-induced lockdown, and especially not Dion Agius. “It’s been a weird time for me in Taz,” says Dion. “I’ve been going a little stir crazy. The winters are cold here and there are no waves. I’ve been here all winter." So, when the opportunity presented itself to Dion, in-between lockdowns, to leave the Tasmanian terrarium for pastures warmer, he sprung at the chance. With a 5'6" Untitled V2 in the board bag and filmer / photographer Nick Green in tow, Dion snuck over to an NZ spot, one he keeps under his hat and one that very rarely breaks. RAVEN | A New Model By Dion Agius “Several years back, prior to a trip to Indo; Hayden and i began concepting ideas and developing prototypes that allowed me to work more on my turns. These various iterations have evolved quite a bit since the first board - finally becoming the latest version RAVEN. My boards have always been more suited for taking off and racing to try airs - so we began fine tuning this one to be faster than any shortboard i’ve ridden previously, whilst finding a balance between drive and being forgiving on rail” - Dion From a collaborative design approach with Dion Agius; RAVEN has arrived. RAVEN is more than just a high performance shortboard, it’s a modern shortboard that brings back the 90’s carve. Best suited to 3ft+ conditions and designed to be put on rail; Dion wanted his signature model to ride effortlessly in everyday conditions, then seriously flare when the waves present themselves. A curved rocker allows for everyone from the intermediate to experienced surfer to drive through their turns. A low-medium entry rockerline allows for ease of paddling with the ability to pick up speed instantly, whilst a medium tail rocker transitioning into a swallow tail produces tighter carves. Dion’s signature shortboard infuses balance between the new high performance surfing, with plenty of release and pop - yet calls-upon design features which allow for that on-rail surfing we all covet. Built in durable and lightweight PE construction (ie. PU core with epoxy lamination) we deliver each PE board complete with a signature Pampass resin pigment base & rail line. In further celebration of our ongoing relationship with Dion; we commissioned Melbourne-based artist Bradley Pinkerton on four separate special edition works: TYP01, TYP02, TYP03, TYP04 - with each print available as a high resolution lamination on the RAVEN’s base. Functional, fast, drivey with amazing release" - Micky Clarke Prior to releasing the COHORT__I model; Hayden worked with Micky refining the board to find harmony in consistent speed, flow, control and power for varying conditions across beachbreaks and points. Between the technologies offered in the COHORT__I builds; Micky's preferences lean towards both the FutureFlex and the PE versions (ie. Polyurethane Epoxy Lamination construction) and its clearly evident they're working for him.
