THE RIFT (TEASER) - Maud Le Car surfing Belharra for the first time On January 27, 2025, our rider Maud Le Car surfed Belharra for the first time. Storm Herminia sent XXL waves crashing onto the coast, with the Arcachon buoy recording over 11 meters. Two days earlier, her teammate Léo Havion had called her, telling her to be ready: the day was shaping up to be as historic as the Hercules swell of 2014… After deciding to step away from competition last year to focus on seeking new sensations in free surfing, was she ready? Trained enough and confident enough? The start of her winter had been intense, learning step-off surfing and hunting big barrels in Hossegor. Stoked 4 Cash - €2,000 for Best Air & Best Manoeuvre w/ Sam Piter, Kyllian Guerin, Aelan Vaast & ... After a successful first edition in the spring at Les Gardians in Hossegor, the Stoked 4 Cash returned on Wednesday, October 15th, to the Landes coast, on what is undoubtedly one of the best sandbars in the area. A Free and Progressive Format The concept remains true to the spirit of free surfing: a relaxed contest whose main objective is to share a day at the beach, bring together local surfers, and push them to push their limits, particularly through radical and aerial maneuvers. No strict rules, no rigid format, just free surfing, sharing waves, and having fun. The event offered a prize pool of €2,000, encouraging participants to give their best in fun-sized conditions. Ideal Conditions The day took place in three 1-hour 15-minute heats, with thirteen surfers per heat. Each participant was judged on their commitment, style, and the difficulty of their maneuvers. The conditions were perfect, with waves between one and one and a half meters and a light side-shore wind, ideal for aerial maneuvers and powerful turns. All under the watchful eye of François Liets, Vincent Duvignac, and Maud Le Car, judges for this edition. The Results After an intense day at Le Boiteux, the evening continued at Le Coolin, with drinks and the famous Spot Palace pizzas. ADAPT: A Visual Tale of Borrowed Boards and Moroccan Lines with Maud Le Car ADAPT: because nothing went as planned. Early 2023, Maud Le Car had just joined Oxbow & jumped on a last-minute swell heading to Morrocco. Her boards didn’t. Stuck somewhere in Agadir for over a month. No time to wait. She found a board at a local surf shop, borrowed a wetsuit, and got in the water. Somehow, the trip still delivered, good waves, good vibes, shadowed by the slow burn of watching the swell fade while her gear sat miles away.
