World Rookie Tour could not start the 2019/2020 season in a better way. For the first time ever the Black Yeti landed in Les2Alpes, France, for an unconventional summer event in one of the best European resorts. On the glacier, 50 snowboarders and freeskiers from 12 different countries including USA, Korea, China and many Europeans, showed their style during the big air and halfpipe competitions, in a perfectly shaped 18 meters kicker and 6.7 m superpipe by the amazing Les2Alpes Snowpark shapers crew.

Also, a new event format was launched in Les 2 Alpes with a perfect mix between jam session and classic competition: the combination of a “prize for trick” skate format with a jam session open to both snowboarders and freeskiers, ensured a fun and relaxed event for riders, but allowed the judges to create a full ranking working in double-up mode.

To underline also the inclusion in the program of a street contest for the 2019 World Rookie Tour Skateboarding, valuable as direct qualification for the first event World Rookie Skateboard Finals to be held in Portugal on September the 15th.

MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the Summer Rookie Jam

For the 2019 edition, we had a big surprise: ours MVPs, both in snowboarding and freeskiing, were two riders from the Grom category, so under 15 years old.

On the snowboard side, the Korean Chaeun Lee gained the title thanks to the victories in all the disciplines (big air and halfpipe) revealed his massive and versatile talent on the snow. Chaeun Lee won an all-inclusive ticket directly at the World Rookie Snowboard Finals in Kitzsteinhorn-Zell Am See from the 30th March to the 4th April 2020.

On the freeski side, another Grom, Nolan Biewenga (NED) drew attention of judges on his style with solid runs in big air and in halfpipe, gained the MVP award and the all-inclusive ticket for the World Rookie Freeski Finals in Seiser Alm from the 23rd to the 27th of March 2020.
