Isak Ulstein And Emmi Parkkisenniemi Win The Oslo Rookie Fest 2016

Tuesday, March 1, 2016
Following the success of last year’s halfpipe event, the Black Yeti again stopped in the world winter capital for the Oslo Rookie Fest 2016.

This year the under 18’s series event was a slopestyle contest and the Norwegian crew stepped it up big time as this World Rookie Tour (WRT) stop went down in Vinterpark at the same time as X Games Oslo. This meant that all rookies got free tickets to watch the pros in action at the Halfpipe and Big Air finals - a sure way to fuel their wildest boarding dreams and make the competition extra memorable for all involved.

Several X Games pros started out on the World Rookie Tour, an important series that provides young snowboarders with international competition experience and helps shape the next generation of riders.

The 75 Rookies, from 8 countries, were treated to a set up from the shaper crew that pushed their limits and led to many creative runs during the national level World Snowboard Tour event. It was a great chance for the riders to test and enhance their trick skills, and everyone really gave it their all.

Isak UlsteinIsak (Nor) and Emmi Parkkisenniemi (Fin), pulled out their best riding skills and took the top spots. Along with their brilliant Black Yeti trophies, they also took home full-paid tickets for the Volkl World Rookie Finals in Ischgl and new snowboards from Sims and Never Summer.

Throughout the weekend it was noticeable that there was a great attitude and enthusiasm from all the Rookies as they filled the slopes with their energy, awesome riding and support for each other. Mega thanks also goes to all the organisers from Black Yeti and World Snowboard Federation, who really made the event run smoothly and ensured a really successful weekend.
