The creation of BL BLAST OFF in 2006 has cultivated a nurturing and encouraging environment for Grommets (surfers 14 and under) and their families. BL BLAST OFF began in Sydney, Australia and has grown exponentially, built with a motto of “Coaching kids, not judging them”.

Now in its 15th year, BL BLAST OFF is returning in 2020 with a brand new format for kids and families around the world to get involved in. With the cancellation of the physical Sydney and Bali events, BLAST OFF is stoked to announce the BOOST MOBILE BL BLAST OFF VIDEO CHALLENGE.
With this international initiative, the 2020 BL BLAST OFF is encouraging young surfers 14 years and under from all over the globe to submit video footage of themselves showing their stoke in the water. Videos can be a single wave, single manoeuvre or an edited clip up to one minute in length.

There will be weekly winners for the Most Entertaining Clip and Kids Who Bring the STOKE and overall winners for our Experts Choice, Peoples Choice, Best Wave, Worst Wipe Out, Best Tube, Best Air, and BL’s Choice.
The event will be judged by Barton Lynch himself alongside a panel of the world’s most exciting young surfers including Jack Robinson, Vahine Fierro, Kyuss King, Mahina Maeda and Eli Hanneman.
Submissions opened on September 14th and will run through October 31.
