Robin Bolian wins the inaugural Red Bull Bowl Rippers

The world’s best bowl skaters gathered in Marseille over the first weekend in September to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the famous Bowl du Prado with the first edition of Red Bull Bowl Rippers.

Forty elite skaters dug out new lines and performed NBD skateboarding tricks to their heart’s delight,

thanks to the newly added extensions.

Transition specialists enjoyed the possibilities offered by the newly pimped spot during the AIS

(Association of International Skateboarders) World Tour 5-star stop.

Friday launched with an exciting Pro-Am contest, which saw a high level of performance from the outset

leading into the thrilling weekend competition.

After each individual run, the six finalists then rode all together in the legendary bowl for a 10-minute

historical final jam session.

American Chris Russell, Frenchman Stephan Boussac and Brazilian Murilo Peres all impressed,

however they could not force their way into the talented top three.

Madrid native Danny Leon made his way to the third step of the podium on the back of extremely

technical runs and hefty airs.

Speed and ease propelled American Alex Sorgente into second, his huge Alley-oop body jars and

kickflip Indies on the wall extension blowing everybody´s mind.

It was home favourite Robin Bolian, though, who made the crowd go nuts. The Lyon rider was super

consistent, his speed increasing up until he landed a backside 540 transfer from the extension to the hip.

At the end of the day, it was enough for Bolian to finish first ahead of freshly crowned world champion

Sorgente.

Red Bull Bowl Rippers will return to Marseille’s Bowl du Prado in 2017 and keep the skate legacy going.
