<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> <strong>Alana Lopez</strong> (USA) and<strong> Cannon Carr</strong> (USA) have claimed wins at the 2025 <a href="https://www.worldsurfleague.com/events/2025/qs/435/wrv-outer-banks-pro/main" target="_blank">WRV Outer Banks Pro Presented by Pacifico</a>, a World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 2,000. Lopez and Carr surged through a stacked Finals Day draw in testy, two-to-three foot, choppy wind swell at Jennette’s Pier, ultimately beating <strong>Reid Van Wagoner </strong>(USA) and <strong>Wheeler Hasburgh</strong> (CAN) in their respective Finals. Carr now moves to No. 5 on the rankings alongside Lopez who leaps to No. 6 leaving the East Coast leg. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Lopez Locks In for Second-Career QS Victory</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">At the young age of 16, <strong>Alana Lopez</strong> (USA) is proving she’s one to keep on the watchlist with two QS victories to her name. The Daytona Beach, Fla., competitor, Lopez, now has both wins on her home coast and moves to No. 6 on the rankings leaving the East Coast leg. With the next string of events on the horizon, Lopez will look to keep the momentum alive at the Super Girl Surf Pro QS 4,000 where Hawaii/Tahiti Nui’s contenders enter the draw.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“I’m super stoked to win that Final. Coming up against Reid was scary and I’m just so happy to get my second QS win here on the East Coast,” said Lopez. “Being from Florida, it just feels really close to home, similar waves and sunrises, I love it. My first few heats before the Final definitely boosted my confidence a little getting some excellent scores. Getting a win so early in the season is really psyching me out, and hopefully, I can get a couple more and make the Challenger Series."</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The women’s Final featured two of North America’s rising QS contenders, including <strong>Reid Van Wagoner </strong>(USA) and Lopez. The teenage up-and-comers battled for the 2025 event title in tough conditions with minimal scoring opportunities to get the heat started. But, Lopez found a running lefthander to capitalize on her backhand attack and post a 5.33 (out of a possible 10) to push her lead over Van Wagoner heading into the last ten minutes of their bout. Van Wagoner required a 5.87 and with 30 seconds remaining got one last opportunity to strike but the wave didn’t provide her the section needed and Lopez emerged victorious for her second QS win. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Alana Lopez</strong> (USA) elevated Finals Day to a new standard after her Quarterfinal victory over Southern California standout <strong>Eden Walla</strong> (USA). Lopez’s 9.60 (out of a possible 10) and 17.27 (out of a possible 20) heat total landed as the overall event’s best performance and surged toward a Semifinal victory over an in-form North America No. 1 <strong>Ella McCaffray</strong> (USA), with more excellence, including an 8.00. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Carr Breaks Through, First-Ever WSL Win Realized</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">San Clemente, Calif., continues to deliver top-tier competitors and <strong>Cannon Carr </strong>(USA) made his long-awaited breakthrough on the QS with his maiden victory. The 2023 event finalist, Carr, has earned three QS Finals and now boasts a win and moves to No. 5 on the rankings. For Carr, 19, the Challenger Series continues to be a goal and now has proper momentum toward making that dream a reality in the 2025/2026 season. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“To win my first QS on the buzzer feels insane. I didn't know what I needed, but knew I needed a small score and wasn't sure if that was it so I'm super stoked," said Carr. "I've been working really hard and last year it felt like my surfing was there but didn't make a heat pretty much all year so I'm super stoked it finally paid off. Now I know I can do it and if I ever doubt myself again there's proof that I can do it."</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Emerging men’s contenders <strong>Wheeler Hasburgh</strong> (USA) and Carr clashed in the men’s Final with Hasburgh entering his third QS Final and Carr his second. Hasburgh kicked off the men’s Final early to get a quick start on Carr before Carr answered with a 7.00. But, the ocean didn’t cooperate for the two to go head-to-head and heading into the final ten minutes, Hasburgh still retained a slim lead with his two scores and found a 5.83 to push Carr’s requirement slightly. Under the minute mark, Carr received an opportunity and, needing a 3.00, was able to link a two-turn combination and earn a 3.60 for his maiden QS victory. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Carr's relentless Finals Day surge began with a Round of 16 win that kickstarted a flawless run atop the podium. The 19-year-old had to overcome Outer Banks' own <strong>Bo Raynor </strong>(USA) in the Quarterfinals before facing two-time event winner <strong>Michael Dunphy</strong> (USA) in the Semifinals. Carr's 8.43 (out of a possible 10) held as one of the day's best single-scores before moving toward a momentous win over Hasburgh. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Wheeler Hasburgh and Reid Van Wagoner Surge to Runner-up Finishes</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">One of the event's standouts, <strong>Wheeler Hasburgh</strong> (CAN), regained his form that brought him to the 2024 Final at this event. The 19-year-old, Hasburgh, had to overcome <strong>Kai Gale Grani</strong> (PAN) in the Quarterfinals and delivered a 14.67 (out of a possible 20) heat total before upping the ante to a 15.00 total over the East Coast's own<strong> Carl Burger</strong> (USA). Now, Hasburgh gains momentum heading into Puerto Rico for a shot at more points on the line.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“It’s a better result than last year, but obviously I wanted to take the win. But, big congrats to Cannon, it’s been a long time coming for him," said Hasburgh. "I made a couple of mistakes, but I have a long way to go, so I know there’s room to improve, and I’ll keep working hard. I had a slow start to the season and this is a big confidence booster. When you lose, you learn so much more, and it opens your eyes, so I’m really stoked, and now it’s time to train and get ready for the next 4,000.” </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Reid Van Wagoner </strong>(USA) got her WRV Outer Banks Pro Finals Day campaign underway with a Round of 16 victory before turning on in the Quarterfinals with a 7.67 over Virginia Beach’s rising talent <strong>Story Martinez </strong>(USA). Then, Van Wagoner took down QS standout <strong>Lilie Kulber</strong> (USA) in their Semifinal bout to earn her first Finals appearance of the 2025/2026 season where she faced off with Lopez. The Carlsbad, Calif., contender looks to keep her Challenger Series hopes alive and thriving heading into the Super Girl Surf Pro QS 4,000 as she now sits at No. 4 on the rankings.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“I’m super happy to make the Final. Alana rips, so if I’m getting beat, I’m glad it’s her," said Van Wagoner. "The conditions were tricky out there, but I’m stoked to get here and have a good run. Losing in Virginia Beach when you know you have more to give is definitely not the best feeling. I had to switch my mindset and focus on what I could do to win. It was fun to surf against so many good girls and compete with the best!" </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Next Up, Super Girl Surf Pro QS 4,000</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The 2025/2026 WSL North America Qualifying Series season’s next stop will be the Super Girl Surf Pro held in Oceanside, Calif.
