Happy birthday Mechelen DIY ! May this day always be a special one to remember. To celebrate the 10 years of a skatepark built by so many passionate people, a heavy crew gathered to clean every dusty coping corner on that day with their trucks. To spice things up, there was five bands playing live, money for challenges, DJs, Beer showers on demand, fireworks, bonefires, a photo exhibition of the past 10 years action, and even some skate Karaoke… you name it… Check out the photos and clip for a recap of the action and you might hear some extra tales of that action-packed day at your local hangout… “contest” results: High Flyer: Bjorn Lillesoe (DK) 700€ Best Transfer: Tim Zom (NL) 700€ Firing Line: Jens Pepermans (BE) 700€ Best Of Best Trick: Tim Rebensdorf (GER) 700€ Smooth Operator: Simon Bannerot (CAN) Eagletone guitar Pool Shredder: Sox Watkins (UK) we’ll get you an Eagletone guitar man Style for Miles and batteries overloaded: Pieter De Clus (BE) 700€ MVP: Tim Rebensdorf (GER) 1000€ and a guitar Special Thanks to everyone involved to run this event (you’re too many to name) and sponsors/organizers Jean Jaques Foundation (event proceeds went to the foundation), Volcom, Concrete Dreams Skateparks, Eagletone Guitars, MAES beer, Mechelen City Council, Matt and Lanny for filming, Alberto for Editing, Remy Stratton, Clement Chouleur and Alberto Scatolin for the photos.
