<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Sive Jarrard</strong> (ASM) and <strong>Moana Domenech </strong>(PYF) claimed wins at the TOA Pro Papara Longboard, a men’s and women’s World Surf League (WSL) Longboard Regional Qualifying Series (LQS) 1,000, before the Qualifying Series (QS) contenders got their campaigns underway in solid three-to-four-foot waves faces. Jarrard’s pivotal win helped her claim back-to-back Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui Longboard Regional wins before Domenech claimed a first-ever LQS win over a rising field of contenders. Plus, the women’s Qualifying Series (QS) completed the opening Round of 24 with <strong>Chesney Guinotte</strong> (HAW) standing apart. Now, the men's regional victory heads to the Local Motion Surf Into Summer. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Jarrard Claims Back-to-Back Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui Longboard Regional Victories</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">One of Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui’s recurring longboard talents, <strong>Sive Jarrard</strong> (ASM), entered Papara ranked No. 1 and didn’t waste the opportunity to claim consecutive regional victoires. Jarrard’s back-to-back win at the HTA HIC Haleʻiwa Pro Longboard set her up as the surfer to beat, and earned a third LQS victory. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“I’m so happy and blessed. Just being here was a win for me and I’m just really happy that I was able to share these moments with my sister and all my friends and family,” said Jarrard. “Rejoigning the world’s best was my goal this year so I’m really excited to see where my surfing can go and I’m just going to enjoy the moment. Hopefully, it goes well for me this year.”</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">In the women’s Final, Jarrard faced multi-World Title contender <strong>Sophia Culhane</strong> (HAW), regional standout <strong>Puamakamae DeSoto</strong> (HAW), and <strong>Luluhia Blomfield Kanes</strong> (HAW). Jarrard surfed on momentum to open with a 6.17 (out of a possible 10). Jarrard was able to back it up with 5.23 on a left using priority, but Culhane’s 7.67 start and minimal backup had her slight ahead of the field. Follow DeSoto’s opportunity to get into the action, Jarrard answered with brilliant backhand performance on a running left for combinations of hang fives that led to an excellent 8.27. When the horn sounded, Jarrard was met by her family on the beach with the TOA Pro Papara champ, unaware of her momentous victory. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>First-Ever LQS Win for Domenech Puts Him In Regional Title Contention</strong> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">In the men's Final, <strong>Moana Domenech</strong> (PYF) took advantage of his local knowledge of Papara to open with a 7.33, answering <strong>Zachary Newton’s</strong> (HAW) 7.17 opener. With priority, Moana sat in the line-up waiting on the opportunity to obtain a great combo and catch Newton. Under priority, the young Tahitian contender found one of the best heat totals of the Quarterfinals. <strong>Haunui Haumani</strong> (PYF) found a left to perform a combination of maneuvers. Finding opportunities right and left, Domenech and Newton were threatening each other’s ranks, finding long waves on the left to perform a combination of maneuvers, hang 10’s, and hang 5’s. On their heel, Haunui in the white jersey gained second place with a 6.17 points, only to be pushed back into third when Moana managed to surf a long left wave, working on it all the way to the shore with a steady hang 10 and a combination of other maneuvers, winning an 8.67 to take the lead. The last exchange between the two wasn’t of consequence for the heat, leaving local surfer Domenech with his first QS win and tied for the No. 1 spot on the regional ranking. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“Wow, I don’t realize what’s happening. It was my goal to win a LQS at home and I’m happy to take the trophy back at home,” said Domenech. “We had not have a QS here in maybe 10 years so it’s good that it happened, let’s do it again next year! Right now I’m number one on the ranking region. I need to place better than 4th to qualify for next year but I’m on the good path and training a lot for that. I’m flying to Ala Moana Bowls this saturday, I’ll be cruising and trying to do my best, surfing like I did today with finding joy in surfing, that’s the way. Tahitian longboard is definitely here, there’s a good new generation, we’re back.” </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">For men’s runner-up,<strong> Zachary Newton</strong> (HAW), this marked an all-important result heading into the Local Surf Into Summer Longboard finale as he joins the race toward WSL Longboard Tour qualification. Newton’s ability to adapt kept earning him advancing spots through to the Final where he posted a 15.34 (out of a possible 20) heat total. Now, Newton heads back to Hawaiʻi ready to take on fellow rankings leaders for a chance at WSL Longboard Tour qualification. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“That’s why I’m here, I’m here to make it all the way, and put it the hard work,” said Newton. “I haven’t done the math on the rankings, but being close to the title feels really good because going into Ala Moana Bowls, I love this spot, I’ve grown up surfing it a lot so I feel like now my chances are a lot better. Tahiti’s been amazing. We spent our first days in Teahupo’o and got some barrels, then came here to train on longboard days and it’s been amazing. The wave is so fun. We have a similar break where I’m from, maybe not as big, so it was easy for me to transform that momentum from home to here.”</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">A perennial World Longboard Title contender, <strong>Sophia Culhane</strong> (HAW) took advantage of the newly added TOA Pro Papara, and earned a runner-up finish to keep her heat strategy and focus sharp. Eyes set on a big WSL Longboard Tour season, Culhane looks to keep building after brilliant showings all the way to a Final against Jarrard. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Guinotte Sets the Scale for TOA Pro Papara</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Following the LQS finale, women's QS Round of 24 got underway, and <strong>Chesney Guinotte</strong> (HAW) laid down the gauntlet, posting a 14.13 heat total. Now, the rising North Shore stalent looks to push further and make up early ground lost at Taapuna.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">"Everyone in that heat got good waves, and we got to go back and forth. The wave has so much potential to show everyone’s surfing,” said Guinotte. The swell direction right now is mainly lefts so I can show my forehand. It feels good to see the scores match the feeling. This has to be a close second to how special it is compared to home. I got surf around here and Teahupo’o. I don’t think anyone else has it as good and we’re so blessed to have these events.”</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Men's TOA Pro Papara Longboard Final Results:</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;">1 - Moana Domenech (PYF) 16.00</div><div style="text-align: justify;">2. - Zachary Newton (HAW) 15.34</div><div style="text-align: justify;">3 - Haunui Haumani (PYF) 13.34</div><div style="text-align: justify;">4 - Michel Demont (PYF) 11.70</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Men's TOA Pro Papara Longboard Final Results:</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;">1 - Sive Jarrard (ASM) 14.47</div><div style="text-align: justify;">2 - Sophia Culhane (HAW) 12.07</div><div style="text-align: justify;">3 - Puamakamae DeSoto (HAW)</div><div style="text-align: justify;">4 - Luluhia Blomfield Kane (HAW) 9.97</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Women's TOA Pro Papara Longboard Semifinal Results:</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;">HEAT 1: Luluhia Blomfield Kane (HAW) 14.50 DEF.
