<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Yesterday,<strong> Tiara van der Huls</strong> (NLD) and <strong>John John Rabinovitch</strong> (ROM) won the World Surf League (WSL) <a href="https://www.worldsurfleague.com/events/2026/jun/529/gadis-junior-pro-ferrol/main" target="_blank">GADIS Junior Pro Ferrol</a> after battling tricky conditions and a big field of Europe’s best juniors over the weekend. As the second stop on the WSL Europe regional Junior Qualifying Series (JQS), the rankings are taking shape heading into the next stop in Capbreton, France with <strong>Ibone Gomez</strong> (ESP) and<strong> Hans Odriozola</strong> (DEU) in the No. 1 spot. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Wildcard Tiara van der Huls Goes All The Way In Ferrol</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Tiara van der Huls</strong> (NLD) has been one of the standout performers during the GADIS Junior Pro Ferrol, securing her first-ever JQS final today. The 19-year-old goofy-footer splits her time between Willemstad and Curacao, and this week she showed off her forehand and backhand on the fun peaks in Ferrol. In only her third JQS event ever, Van Der Huls came into this event as one of the WSL wildcards, an underdog so to speak, and she went all the way to win her first-ever JQS title.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“I am very happy, I have an epic team here," said Van Der Huls. "We have been training all week in tiny waves, but we got a couple. In the end I can’t believe the result!”</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Naïa Monte</strong> (FRA) gave Van Der Huls a good fight in the final, taking the lead for a considerable time in the heat while no one improved their scores. However, Van Der Huls found her best wave with just minutes to go, combining a couple of strong backhand turns and scoring a 6.33 (out of a possible 10) to take back the lead and deny Monte the win.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">In the Semifinals, <strong>Maria Dias</strong> (POR) and <strong>Ibone Gomez </strong>(ESP) had a great exchange to book their spots in the Final alongside Van Der Huls and Monte. This was Gomez’ consecutive third place finish which bumps her into the top spot on the rankings, pushing <strong>Sol Borelli</strong> (ESP) into second, with Monte in third and Van Der Huls with a massive leap up to fourth. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>John John Rabinovitch Earns First JQS Title</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">In his first-ever JQS final,<strong> John John Rabinovitch</strong> (ROM) did not let the pressure get to him. The 18-year-old goofy-foot was a man on a mission, finding some great waves on his forehand to build a strong heat total and put the rest of the field against the ropes. He impressed with his small wave wizardry this week in Ferrol, putting together a great performance in the final to claim his first-ever JQS win. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">“I’m feeling great,” said Rabinovitch. “It’s been a challenging year for me, coming back from a knee injury. I’m really happy that my surfing is back to where it should be, to have that power back. I’ve been putting in the work, and kept believing. Last year was a really hard year for me, so it feels really good to finally do it after the injury. My board felt great in the small conditions. Thanks to my family and friends for all the support.”</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">It was a nail-biting final, as the waves pulsed and the men pushed their performances. Rabinovitch grabbed the lead in the final with a solid 7.00, but it was nervous moments when <strong>Hans Odriozola</strong> (DEU) responded with a 7.13. Odriozola got another great backup to get himself into second, but never got another opportunity again and Rabinovitch earned his first win with a total of 12.77 (out of a possible 20). </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">In the Semifinals,<strong> Fernando Ibarra</strong> (ESP) blew the competition out of the water with an excellent 8.00 and 7.83 to book his spot in the men’s Final. An entertaining exchange between <strong>Joshua Karbus</strong> (IRL) and Odriozola in the second Semifinal, saw the two battle for first. Odriozola boosted himself into the top spot with a big opening turn and frontside air for an excellent 8.83. Karbus also featured in his first-ever junior final, and will be one to watch in the future. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">With a few days off, competitors will get to reset and refocus for Stop No. 3 in Capbreton, France next weekend from July 3-5,2026.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The GADIS Surf Festival Ferrol ran from June 24-28, 2026 at Playa de Esmelle, Ferrol, Galicia.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><em>The Gadis Surf Festival Ferrol is proudly supported by Xunta de Galicia, Deputación de A Coruña, Concello de Ferrol, Plan Corresponsable, Deporte Galego, Pesca de Rías, Gadis, Estrella Galicia, Cabreiroá, Jael Joyería, Wasted, Edommo, Ventores, Vazva, Volkswagen – Arrojo, Intermax, Volcom, Calaverita Hotels, Schweppes/Pepsi, La Rampa Garaje, Surflogic, Mojo Wax y Camping As Cabazas.</em> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Relive The Action</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Catch up on all the GADIS Surf Festival Ferrol on <a href="https://www.worldsurfleague.com/" target="_blank">WorldSurfLeague.com</a> and the free <a href="https://www.worldsurfleague.com/app" target="_blank">WSL app</a>. and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@wsl-qs" target="_blank">WSL YouTube</a>.
