ELLIE HARRISON AND LENNIX SMITH CROWNED RIP CURL GROMSEARCH NATIONAL CHAMPIONS AT URBNSURF MELBOURNE

Ellie Harrison (Barwon Heads, VIC) and Lennix Smith (Wollongong, NSW) have been crowned 16 & Under Rip Curl GromSearch National Champions today at URBNSURF Melbourne in the 20th Year of the prestigious grom event.

2021 is the first time the Rip Curl GromSearch National Final has been run at URBNSURF and showcased an innovative format testing competitors in turn and barrel waves to crown the most well rounded surfers.

The event also ran an exclusive high-performance GromSearch wave setting which is currently unavailable to the public.

SURFING VICTORIA TO HOST BOLT BLOWERS INVITATIONAL AT BELLS BEACH THIS EASTER TO RAISE MONEY AND AWARENESS FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Surfing Victoria, The Bolt Blowers and the Surf Coast Shire Council are stoked to announce the Bolt Blowers Invitational, a surf event to raise money for mental health awareness, will take place this Easter Saturday at Bells Beach.

After the disappointing cancellation of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, this event will fill the place of the event for 2021 whilst raising money for mental health charity One In Five and Aboriginal mentoring organization, Strong Brother, Strong Sister.

RIP CURL PRO BELLS BEACH TO RETURN IN 2022 WITH NEW THREE-YEAR DEAL

The World Surf League (WSL) today announced that the Championship Tour (CT) will return to Bells Beach in 2022 and beyond thanks to the new three-year deal that was signed between the WSL and its longtime partners, Rip Curl and the Victorian Government. The deal secures this iconic event into the future and ensures that any WSL World Title hopeful will need to navigate the notorious Bells bowl if they have any chance at becoming a World Champion and that the coveted Bell will be rung for many Easters to come.

VICTORIA TO HOST RIP CURL GROMSEARCH NATIONAL FINAL AT AUSTRALIA’S FIRST SURF PARK, URBNSURF MELBOURNE

Surfing Victoria is excited to reconfirm the Rip Curl GromSearch National Final will be held in Victoria at URBNSURF Melbourne on March 15th, 2021.

72 of the finest junior surfers from around the country will descend on the country’s first ever public surf park to battle it out for the title of GromSearch National Champion. Qualifying athletes from the Rip Curl GromSearch series will be joined by wildcards to enjoy a day of surfing perfect waves in the 2-hectare, crystal-clear lagoon.

VICTORIAN OPEN SERIES TO RE-START ON THE SURF COAST THIS WEEKEND

The Victorian Open Series is set to re-start this weekend on the Surf Coast after the re-scheduling of the opening rounds due to poor surf earlier in the year and late last year.

The event will see over 45 surfers from around the state surf in the event and will crown Open Men’s and Open Women’s state champions.

The final event in the series is due to be held on February 27th on Phillip Island.

PHILLIP ISLAND REIGN SUPREME AT FINAL NUDIE AUSTRALIAN BOARDRIDERS BATTLE QUALIFIER

Local club Phillip Island have claimed victory at their home break today to progress through to the National Final of the nudie Australian Boardriders Battle.

After multiple postponements in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event went ahead on Saturday at Cape Woolamai as the final qualifier in the national series.

Final qualifying stop of 2020/21 Nudie Australian Boardriders Battle series is going down on Phillip Island, VIC, this Saturday JAN 30th. $3k in prize money & spots on the line for the National Final scheduled for May - it's a big one!

The nudie Australian Boardriders Battle is the biggest grassroots boardriders event in Australian surfing history. It involves more than 100 of Australia’s best boardriders clubs in eight State qualifying rounds that will culminate in a two day National Final for 24 clubs.

VICTORIAN MASTERS TITLES AND ROUND 2 OF THE VICTORIAN OPEN SURFING TITLES POSTPONED ON THE MORNINGTON PENINSULA

The Victorian Masters Titles and Round 2 of the Victorian Open Titles, both scheduled to be completed on the Mornington Peninsula this weekend, have been postponed as a result of dangerous and unruly conditions.

MAHONEY AND HUPPATZ CROWNED CHAMPIONS AT GUNNAMATTA BEACH FOR FINALS DAY OF THE WOOLWORTHS VICTORIAN JUNIOR TITLES

The Woolworths Victorian Junior Titles resumed at Gunnamatta Beach today for finals day of the first round in the three event series.

Conditions were tricky yet again, with a building swell in the 3-4 foot range and strong onshore winds creating choppy conditions.
